When compared to the conventional Maunsell Q 0-6-0 tender engines on which it was based, the wartime austerity Class Q1 Bulleid version looks very strange with its prominent cylinder and valve ends, unusual smokebox shape and squat chimney. Any unnecessary cosmetic metalwork was discarded in order to accommodate the much larger boiler within existing weight limits. No. 33001 is on shed at Sheffield Park on the Bluebell Railway on 5th October 1986.
