At some point, all of the ex Virgin / Inter-City Class 87 locomotives have been sent for storage at the Long Marston MOD site in Warwickshire. Most of the total fleet of 36 locomotives are being refurbished and exported to Bulgaria where they will be employed on freight workings, with a couple of examples remaining in the UK in preservation. One example which isn't planned to leave Long Marston is No 87027, which was being used as a source of spares for the rest of the locomotives going through refurbishment. 87027 carried the name 'Wolf of Badenoch' for most of its working life, it is seen in the sunlight at the entrance to the Long Marston site on 8th June 2008.
