At Gold Hill, the current terminus of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, No 29 prepares to return to Virginia City as No 8 lays out of service in the siding on 20th June 2009. The track now extends a further 17 miles to the outskirts of Carson City, but due to modern development and various planning objections it is unlikely to be able to extend its track into the city itself.
