LNER Class A3 no. 4472 "Flying Scotsman" makes an impressive sight against the semaphore signals at Cleethorpes station on 21 June 1969. With additional tender in tow, this was possibly 4472's only visit to the seaside town. The train originated from Doncaster and took a very circuitous route via Wakefield, Huddersfield, Penistone, Barnsley, Mexborough, Rotherham Cen.,Retford and Gainsborough.
