The BR InterCity sector operated a record-breaking special in June 1995 with class 91 No. 91031 'Sir Henry Royce'. The train was formed of five carriages plus a DVT and is seen here at Peterborough at the end of the trial on 1st June 1995, the day before the official run. I was fortunate enough to travel on the trial train when we achieved a speed of 153mph at Tollerton and on Stoke bank. The 'X' indication on the buffers was for the benefit of lineside personnel.
