A bitterly cold on 1st December 1978 sees No. 55010 THE KING'S OWN SCOTTISH BORDERER ticking over at a frost-covered York. The locomotive was awaiting the arrival of 1S27, the 07:25 from Plymouth which it would then take forward to Edinburgh. On the right, 55013 THE BLACK WATCH is about to depart for Newcastle.
