A shot from exactly 45 years ago at Eaglescliffe. The distinctive front end of LNER class A4 No. 60004 'William Whitelaw' makes an impressive sight on 19th September 1965 as she heads the RCTS 'Blythe & Tyne' railtour. The loco, introduced in 1937 as no. 4462 'Great Snipe', was renamed in 1941. She was withdrawn from service on 17 July 1966.
