Even today Stafford No.5 signalbox betrays its BR(LMR) days with its maroon sign on the front. It actually predates nationalisation though it was modernised in early 1960 for the WCML electrification. The original mechanical lever frame still controls movements at the north end of Stafford though all points and signals are electrically operated, but its days are numbered as transfer to Stoke ECC beckons.
