Refurbished large-logo-liveried Class 50 No. 50044 'Exeter' is seen taking the Amber Valley Line towards Derby at Clay Cross North Junction, Derbyshire on 31st August 1983 with working 6V60, 09:10 Scunthorpe CHP to Severn Tunnel Junction Down Yard. The train consists of a rake of empty HAA hopper wagons that were returning to South Wales after depositing coal at Scunthorpe steelworks. The locomotive was working back to the Western Region of British Rail following rectification work at BREL Doncaster Locomotive Works.
