Sunday 7th October 2012 was quite a busy day for Carlisle. With East Coast Services diverted by the WCML and then via Newcastle. In addition a failed tamper at Penrith was adding to the already busy scene. Here 11 car Class 390 Pendolino No. 390153 waits its slot in the single line working process, with a service from Glasgow Central to London Euston. Due to the severely late running the train was cancelled at Penrith and returned to Glasgow. 1Z99 was supplied by DRS at Kingmoor Depot in the form of Class 47 No. 47814. In the event is was not called to the scene and returned back to Kingmoor.
