Trailing at the rear is WCRC Class 57/6 No. 57601, while in the opposite direction single unit Class 153 No. 153378 is partially obscured by the exhaust from the leading Class 47 as it approaches the junction to diverge onto the North Staffs route with the 14:42 Derby to Crewe service.
