Virgin Thunderbird Class 57/3 No. 57307 Lady Penelope enters Crewe Station having dragged Pendolino Class 390 No. 390018 Virgin Princess from Holyhead on 26th February 2005. No. 57307 is probably the only British Railway Locomotive to have been adorned with a pink nameplate! At the end of 2012 these Class 57/3 workings finished and the few remaining Virgin-liveried locomotives are likely to loose their colours in 2013. This coincides with the passing of Gerry Anderson, the creator of the Thunderbird characters after which many Class 57/3 locomotives were named.
