The photograph shows BR Class 33/0 No. 33046, weighing some 77 tonnes, loaded on the trailer of a Reid Freight Services transporter as it is seen travelling west along the A50 dual carriageway near Etwall, Derbyshire towards Uttoxeter on a rather overcast morning of Tuesday 2nd July 2013 while in transit from Nemesis Rail, Burton-on-Trent to the preserved East Lancashire Railway at Bury. This locomotive, built by Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon in 1961 as Type 3 Bo-Bo No. D6564, had been a resident at the Burton rail Depot for many months since arriving from a preserved railway line. It is understood that rather than the locomotive being restored it is to provide spares for the East Lancashire Railways Class 33's and then be scrapped.
