A RARE SHOT INDEED! Double Header GNR Gresley Class N2 0-6-2T No. 1744 (69523) and Hill N7 (GER Class L77) 0-6-2T No. 69621, their two distinctive smoke stacks visible for the first time, continue at full power up the 1 in 49 gradient as they pass under Darnholme Bridge with the 12.30 Service from Grosmont to Pickering. This turned out to be the only round-trip made by the N7 as it subsequently failed with a fractured steam pipe and regretfully did not take any further part in the Gala.
