The Cyprus Government Railway (CGR), was a 122 km narrow-gauge line (762 mm gauge) railway in operation from 1905 to 1951 and extended from Famagusta in the east, to Morfou in the west, passing through Nicosia. The inauguration ceremony of the Cyprus railway back in 1905 took place at the Famagusta station (as seen here in the background), with the arrival of the then High Commissioner, Sir Charles Anthony King Harman, on the first train from Nicosia. Hunslet Engine Company No. 1 was built in 1904 and is seen here standing outside the original Famagusta station building on 30th August 2018.
