The GM/EMD designed Class 66 was first introduced in the UK in 1998 and 23 years later there are now over 400 locomotives of this class that have been delivered to the UK and are in use by all the major freight operators. On 29th April 2021, the first of the class, 66/0 No. 66001 in smart DB red and grey livery heads through Gargrave near Skipton with the 10.44 New Biggin British Gypsum - Tees Dock empty box wagons.
