The delicate task of positioning the new 2,600 tonne girder bridge into place at Washwood Heath was completed over the weekend of 7th/8th May 2022, ahead of schedule. It is believed that the Aston - Stechford Line, which the new bridge carries across the Birmingham - Derby main line as well as future HS2 tracks, will reopen by the end May 2022. Passing is the 1038 Corby B.S.C. - Margam TC steel empties headed by Class 66/0 No. 66091. Note that the locomotive carries Direct Rail service colours, although this is a DB Cargo operated service.
