Virgin Cross Country Class 47 No. 47840 North Star is seen at Manchester Piccadilly on 21st June 2002. The locomotive had been painted in BR blue to commemorate the imminent ending of loco hauled Cross Country services and is now preserved by the DEPG, currently based on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
