Akamizu station. Despite the fact that this is a single line railway and the island platform offers few creature comforts the station building (to the left) is manned, has a waiting room, full ticket office, a taxi rank and the ubiquitous vending machines. The main road is a few paces from the station entrance with buses passing and a rent a car office 2 minutes away. There is also an american style diner (part of a chain called Joufull) which backs on to the railway and makes a good waiting place.
