The unique Harz metre gauge 2-6-2T, No 99 6001, departs from Alexisbad on the Harzgerode branch as railcar No 187 017 heads for Stiege with the last train of the day to Nordhausen Nord on the 14th May 2009. The next three days it would terminate at Nordhausen Hesslerode as the construction work at Freiherr-von-Stein-Straße, to replace the standard and metre gauge line level crossings with an underpass, closed the line. No 187 017, one other railcar, two Nordhausen trams and the one steam loco used for the daily service to the Brocken were all be being stabled at Ilfeld Bf.
