The Overlander finally arrives in the New Zealand capital, Wellington after the 12+ hour journey from Auckland. GM-powered No. DC4300 replaced Electric 30192 at Palmerston North and although there are overhead electric wires in Wellington they're 1500v DC for the suburban commuter trains (seen on left) and not suitable for the 25Kv AC Electrics used on the main trunk between Hamilton and Palmerston North.
