No. 47786 leads the 1Z20 Crewe to Glasgow Central on the first leg of day 1 of 'The West Highlander' railtour to Fort William on 10th September 2011. The train is seen passes the construction site of the new Buckshaw Parkway station which is scheduled to open on 03 October 2011. The earth mound on the right of the photograph is the remains of the platform of the Chorley ROF station. The ordnance factory was mainly to the left of the photograph and had a significant railway connection to enable completed munitions to be moved to storage sites. This part of the site closed in 2000 and has been redeveloped for both industrial and residential use.
