Two-tone grey-liveried Class 73/1 No. 73107 Redhill 1844-1994 and classmate No. 73138 in Network Rail yellow livery are pictured top and tailing a three-vehicle test train near North Stafford Junction, Derbyshire on Saturday on 9th March 2013. Class 73 electro-diesels can be seen from time to time on Network Rail test trains to and from Derby RTC, it is however extremely rare for Class 73s to operate over the North Staffs route between Crewe and Derby. This photograph shows test working 3Q02, 21:45 (Friday) Crewe L&NWR Site to Derby RTC, which in its itinerary traversed several routes that included Warrington, Rainhill, Southport, Liverpool South Parkway, Seaforth and Litherland, Runcorn and Crewe prior to returning the three-vehicle Network Rail test train comprising research vehicles 977983, 62384 and 6264, to the Derby RTC.
