Southport saw a return of Class 73 traction in the early hours of Saturday 9 March 2013 when Class 73 73107 Redhill 1844-1994 operated a Network Rail test train in top n tail mode with sister locomotive 73138 as they made an overnight tour of the Merseyrail Northern Lines network
