Last night, Sunday 17th March 2013, due to a brake fault on the sleeper set it was declared a failure, and the 1A40 21:25 Penzance - London Paddington was cancelled as a sleeper service and its replacement was formed of a high speed train. Estimated departure from Penzance was 23:00. Today, Class 57 No. 57604 worked the train up to London Old Oak as 5Z70 11:52 Penzance to Old Oak Common HSTD., booked to follow London Paddington service from Plymouth. However, it ran early and is seen here in daylight, passing Countess Wear, Exeter at 14:45hrs this afternoon. Being able to photograph the Sleeper in daylight here in Devon is virtually impossible, so empty workings such as this are the only times to capture it.
