An unusual livery is currently seen regularly at Carlisle station as a London Midland Desiro visits on First Trans-Pennine crew training runs in advance of electric services between Manchester and Scotland starting in December as the first benefit of electrification of the Lancashire triangle. On 9th October 2013, Class 390/1 No. 390151 awaits departure with the 08:49 service to London Euston while Class 350/2 No. 350252 waits to form the delayed 08:33 crew-training working to Preston.
