An unusual but appropriate memorial to the development of steel consisting of railway points can be found by the track bed of the Severn and Wye Railway between Parkend and Coleford. In the background can be seen (on the 13th March 2016) the Darkhill Ironworks where in 1857 the first steel to be used for railway track was made.
