Class 43 (HST), 43423 stands at Long Eaton at the head of an East Midlands Trains Sheffield to St Pancras International train on 24th June 2019. The power car at the rear is Number 43465. Number 43423 bears the nameplate "Valenta 1972-2010" celebrating the Perkins "Valenta" Diesel engines originally installed in the Class 43 power cars. The presence of buffers reveals that they, together with six others of the class had been pressed into service as Driving Van Trailers to work with Class 91 locomotives during the electrification of the East Coast mainline pending delivery of Mk4 coaching stock.
