Trenitalia class E.464 approaches Messina Centrale station in Sicily on 8th August 2022, with the 12.35 Palermo Centrale - Milan Centrale overnight service, due to arrive at its destination at 11.20 the following morning. This portion will be combined with another from Siracusa and will then use the train ferry for the crossing to Villa San Giovanni on the Italian mainland before continuing to northern Italy, a scheduled journey of nearly 23 hours.
