Two unidentified Trenitalia class E.464 single cab locomotives are seen top and tailing the previous day's 19.05 Milano Centrale - Siracusa overnight service as it approaches Taormina-Giardini station in Sicily on 5th August 2022. The scheduled journey time is around 21 hours and includes the use of the train ferry from Villa San Giovanni on the Italian mainland across the Messina Strait to Messina where the train is split with the other portion proceeding to Palermo. It is necessary to top and tail the Messina - Siracusa section of the journey as the locomotives are single cab and there is No. turntable facility at Siracusa.
