The early pioneers who took over the derilict Swanage Railway station in 1976 with the aim of restoring the railway which had closed in 1972 would see their goal achieved on 4th April 2023. The Swanage Railway commenced their own services back onto the main line into Wareham using their DMU stock which had been extensively overhauled for this purpose. In this scene BR Class 121 Bubblecar No. W55028 coupled to the front of BR Class 117 three-car No. 51388 heads out of Wareham with the first service the 11:19 to Swanage.
