Work stained Class 47 No. D1705 passing the disused station sidings at Fledborough on 18th June 1966, heading the 1440 Mansfield to New England loaded coal working. The LD&ECR goods shed remains, and the station Masters house is visible on the horizon, the station having been closed in 1955. High Marnham Power station is situated on the left out of shot. No. D1705 was one of a batch of five locomotives built with a Sulzer 2650 bhp engine, later equipped with a standard 2750 bhp unit. Withdrawn in 1991 as No. 47117, it has been preserved.
