BLS operate a frequent car shuttle between Kandersteg and Goppenstein through the classic Loetschberg Tunnel which saves considerable road mileage. At the south end of the tunnel at Goppenstein ClassRe4/4 Nos. 183 on the left and 174 on the right await departure to Kandersteg and No. 169 has recently arrived after propelling a train from Kandersteg on 26th February 1994. The mainline towards Brig starts the steep descent to the Rhone Valley on the right.
