Originally built by Sharp Stewart in Glasgow 1896 for the Cape Government Railway 3'6' gauge in South Africa 4-8-0 No. 390 ran as SAR No. 993 and was sold to Zambezi Saw Mills and served from 1971 intil closure of the Sawmills Railway in 1973 when it was donated to the late David Shepherd and arrived at Salford Docks in 1975. It was cosmetically restored at Tyseley between 2008 and 2012 and is now at NRM York as seen on 10th March 2025.
