It is fortunate that the lines through Ely are bi-directional as we see here that Greater Anglia Class 455 No. 455407 working a Norwich to Stanstead Airport service stands on the down line while East Midlands Trains Class 158 No. 158862 working a Liverpool Lime Street service to Norwich service stands on the up line on 9th May 2025.
