An iconic and unique locomotive and one which previously had spells operating on the mainline, the sole ‘standard' Class 8 No. 71000 ‘Duke Of Gloucester' has recently arrived at the Severn Valley to begin operational testing and running in. The locomotive has been in the process of overhaul over the last 10 and years and was moved to the Severn Valley from Tyseley locomotive works where the overhaul was finally completed. It is destined to operate back on the main line with Saphos Steam in the near future. On 15th May 71000 was captured reposing in the sun at Bewdley south,.
