The East Lancs Railway held a Winter Diesel Day on 10th January 2009, using several of the Bury fleet of locos to operate the usual Saturday timetable. BR Green Class 40 No. D335, wearing the Class 40 Preservation Society headboard, powers away from Bury and passes Burrs Country Park with the 12:40 Heywood to Rawtenstall service. Despite the cold weather (note the frost which didn't clear at all during the day) the trains were well loaded with lots of enthusiasts and the odd shopper heading home from Bury market with some black pudding!
