The East Lancs Railway ran another of their popular diesel days on 7th November 2009, this time based on a theme of Type 2 and Type 3 locomotives. In addition to the passenger service, a demonstration freight train was also in operation and while this was being run primarily to train guards it also provided some novel photographic opportunities to those at the lineside. Class 37/9 No. 37901 'Mirrlees Pioneer' was used throughout the day and is seen here heading east from Bury with the 4J70 14:50 Rawtenstall to Heywood. Canon EOS 5D, 1/320, f2.8, ISO1000
