With Cummersdale Mill in the background in the Caldew valley on the outskirts of Carlisle on the first morning of reintroduced loco-hauled services on the Cumbrian Coast line, Class 37/4 No. 37423 leads the DRS stock on the 08:41 Northern service from Carlisle to Barrow from whence the train originated on the 05:46 northbound working earlier in the morning. Pending the implementation of the Mk2 DBSOs, the trains are being operated in top and tail mode, in this case with Class 37/6 No. 37609 dead on the rear.
