Today saw the opening of the new Norton Bridge flyover and I decided to set my alarm early and get down there to withness the first train to use it. That was the 05:11 Manchester Piccadilly รข?? Bournemouth Cross Country service which passed through at 06:18. Unfortunately it was still dark at this time and although I set the ISO on my camera very high the image wasn't particularly good and definitely not worth sharing. This photograph is a composite of two images which illustrates the benefit the new flyover has brought to operations in the area. The Pendolino No. is heading north on the down fast WCML (moving right to left) and has just passed through the old flat junction while the Cross Country Voyager is coming from Stone, about to cross over the new flyover and will pass behind me and drop down to the WCML a couple of miles to the south and join the up slow line thus avoiding a conflicting movement over the fast lines and putting it into the west side of Stafford station ready to take the Wolverhampton line from there. 08:00 on 29th March 2016.
