To combat rising running costs, The Watercress line have been running a one train mid-week service, usually at the hands of their Ivatt Class 2 tank, augmented by a shuttle between Alresford and Ropley. on 28th July 2023, the last scheduled day of the shuttle, Class 08 No. D3462 substituting for Peckett R3 'Palmerston', trundles down past Bishops Sutton foot crossing, heading towards Alresford.
