Horbury Junction in June 1958.The new, direct, Barnsley-Leeds service usedy Class 101 DMUs; you could open the windows and lean out! The signal gantry carries the UP SLOW and UP FAST home signals controlling the junction between the L&Y main line from Normanton to Manchester and the branch to Barnsley. In the V of the junction was the works of Chas. Roberts and Co. Ltd, Wagon Builders, Est. 1856. In 1958 they were busy building Mk1 Restaurant Cars for BR. The site later belonged to Procor and then Bombardier. It closed in 2005.
