56094 makes it's belated and short lived revenue earning debut in full dull after a glorious day.
The loco was supposed to work the "Boston Steel" out and back after a test run the previous day but in the end the outbound train was worked by 47739 alone.
Thereafter 56094 was despatched light engine to Boston to pilot the return working but was in actuality terminated at Nottingham to await the arrival of the return train there where it was attached to the pointy end in 4 middle.
With Nottingham Castle looking on, 56094 leads 6M08 the Boston Docks - Washwood Heath loaded steel past Lenton South Junction at 19.18 on Wednesday 24th May 2012.
The grid didn't get very far, failing a couple of miles further on at Attenborough.
47739 thus again picked up the baton and hauled the consist (whilst propelling the failed 56094) to Clay Mills and the quadruple track there where the errant 56 was replaced with the 47 on the front of the train.
Despite all this misfortune the train arrived at Washwood Heath just 30 minutes down.
