On the 9th March 2016, this SAR Class GMAM No. 4128, a 4-8-2+2-8-4 Garratt built by Beyer Peacock in Manchester in 1958, is seen at the Transnet Steam Heritage Depot at Voorbaai, Mossel Baai, in the Western Cape. A number of steam locomotives are stored at the Depot and following a recent assessment by Depot staff, certain locomotives have been identified to be kept, while others will be scrapped. Fortunately, it appears that No. 4128, is likely to be kept.
