At 19.53 on the evening of the 19th October 2022, GBRf Class 66/7 No. 66739 'Bluebell Railway', was hauling the 17.15, GBRf loaded cement tank service from Castle Cement at Clitheroe to Carlisle New Yard, when it was involved in a serious derailment at Petteril Bridge Junction, Carlisle. Some cement tanks towards the rear of the train were derailed. One tank can be seen up against the screen fence to the B&Q store to the right, while two tanks have fallen into the River Petteril. This serious derailment has temporarily closed the lines to Leeds and Newcastle and it will be some days before services are restored and the trackwork repaired. This view was taken at lunchtime on 20th October 2022, with the locomotive still in situ, while the damage is assessed.
