In the afternoon of the 29th December 2022 the two Colas rail Freight Class 37's, Nos. 37175 and 37099 'Merl Evans', were started up after being stabled at Carlisle over the Christmas period. In this view, the resulting considerable exhaust smoke can be seen being emitted from both locomotives. The infrastructure monitoring train eventually departed as the 16.45, Carlisle to Blackpool North infrastructure monitoring train, via the Cumbria Coast, at 17.20, 35 minutes late.
