Infrastructure. Items of equipment now becoming a rare sight on the railway, these transition fishplates are seen at Machynlleth on 4th August 2010. They allow lengths of 'flat-bottom' and 'bullhead' rail to be joined together but are labour-intensive to maintain. Rail bonding wires can also be seen and these are used where track circuits are in use.
