Class 47/0 diesel electric No. 47295 runs through Basingstoke on 3rd November 1990 with a northbound train of tanks from Fawley Oil Terminal to Humberside. New as No. D1997 from Crewe Works in June 1966 and initially allocated to York MPD (50A), it was renumbered under TOPS in March 1974. The loco was named 'Black Prince' from September 1993 until withdrawal in January 2003. Preservation was attempted by the Brush Type 4 Fund but after a period of storeage at Long Marston, it was broken up at EMR of Kingsbury during July 2011.
