Maunsell 'U' Class Mogul No. 31639 being serviced at Salisbury MPD on 3rd April 1966. Behind it is 'N' Class No. 31411 and together they had arrived hauling the LCGB 'Wilts & Hants' railtour from London Wateroo, routed via the London suburban lines, Redhill, Guildford and Reading. 31639 and 'Q1' Class No. 33006 later double-headed the train back to Waterloo via Southampton, Eastleigh, Alresford, Alton and Woking. It was new as SR No. 1639 from Ashford Works in May 1931. Withdrawn from Guildford just two months later, in June 1966, it was scrapped by Cashmore of Newport during September of that year.
