Network SouthEast Class 50 No. 50049 'Defiance' with ECS in the carriage sidings at Clapham Junction on 4th October 1990. It was new as No. D449 from Vulcan Foundry in December 1968, renumbered under TOPS and later named at Laira MPD on 2nd May 1978. It became No. 50149 and carried the grey livery of Railfreight between 1987 and 1989, during which time it was tested on china clay and stone trains. Withdrawal came in August 1991 and it survived into preservation, firstly on the West Somerset Railway and later on the Severn Valley Railway. It is owned by the Class 50 Alliance.
